Taking Your Subaru to Sequoia National Park

May 7th, 2025 by

Are you and your family considering a future trip to Sequoia National Park? Planning ahead of a crucial aspect of your travels, and having your driving needs in order is paramount. Fortunately, we at Spreen Subaru are here to discuss popular destinations in the area, and how you can equip your Subaru to set yourself up for success.

Getting Started

Since Sequoia National Park is a little under five hours away from San Bernardino, it’s imperative that you complete a few tasks to ensure your drive goes off without a hitch. For starters, you’ll want to spring for a first aid kit, since you’ll be in a secluded area for an extended period of time. Fortunately, we have these available when you explore our genuine accessories. If you plan to stay into the nighttime hours, we also strongly suggest bringing jackets and blankets to be prepared for when the temperature plummets. Next, it’s important to plan your route ahead of time, so you can stop by gas stations on the way. This is because once you enter the park, you won’t have any ability to refuel. Do you have an EV like the Solterra? It’s critical to understand that the 2024 edition has a 227-mile driving range1, which won’t get you all the way to the destination, since the park is approximately 265 miles from San Bernardino. Fortunately, your touchscreen will drop a pin on the closest DC Fast Chargers!

Accessories

Enjoying your time spent at Sequoia National Park is the whole reason you’re heading there in the first place. While they aren’t completely necessary, Subaru accessories are integral to elevating your weekend experience. If you plan on bringing secondary transportation, we suggest equipping your Ascent or Forester with a Thule® roof-mounted paddleboard carrier to use on one of the 3,200 ponds or lakes found in the park. For your camping essentials, we also have Thule® cargo carriers available to store your valuables. Are you not a fan of sleeping on the ground? The Thule® rooftop tent has an extendable ladder and rests on top of the vehicle. You won’t have to worry about your mobile device’s battery draining either, courtesy of an available USB charging set.

Activities

There are endless opportunities at Sequoia National Park, and we’ll provide you with some suggestions to make your time spent there memorable. Hiking through the Giant Forest is certainly breathtaking, and stopping by the General Sherman Tree will be perfect for a photo opportunity, as it stands 275-ft. tall. You’ll also be able to pull your Subaru through the tunnel log, which consists of a tree that fell over and was carved out to fit vehicles. For rushing rapids, travel up the 3.5-mile hike to reach Tokopah Falls and appreciate the view of Mother Nature. For more suggestions, contact our team today!
